Jozef Kicko and his Gravely Tractor in Slovakia

Having a web site is a wonderful way to meet people all over the world. I first met Jozef Kicko when he e-mailed me to discuss an issue he was having with his Gravely. I am no Gravely mechanical expert but I was able to send an e-mail to the Gravely tech support people to confirm our suspicion: Jozef's tractor needed a clutch.

I presumed it would be difficult to obtain a Gravely clutch in Slovakia (formerly Czechoslovakia) so I sent him one. It was a lot of fun to be able to help a fellow Gravely owner in a country so far away.

In return Jozef sent me a wonderful book titled: "Slovensko in the 3rd Millenium". It is a beautiful hardbound book with full color describing the people and the place. It was a real treat to see the beauty of the country.

The pictures from Slovakia are from Jozef and feature his Gravely and his family. I feel like I have a very good friend in Central Europe. In fact, the very center of Europe. The geometric center of Europe is near the village of Krahule, in the region of Kremnica in Slovakia. If you ever want to visit the very center of Europe you can stay at the Blaufuss hotel.

Actually, I now have three good friends in Central Europe. Jozef's nephew and a friend visited Parker today (September 20, 2002) and we had a great time discussing their summer visit to Colorado. Some pictures of their visit are also included here.
